Northern Governor's: Open Grazing No Longer Sustainable

On Tuesday, the Northern Governor's Forum had resleased a communique stating that the normadic way of rearing cattle is no longer good. 

Chairman of the forum, Simon Lalong stated this expressing their desire to open raching across the states especially the Northern part of the country and urging the Federal Government to give them assistant owing to the rising cases of farmers/herders crisis and the eviction notice given to the herders in the southern part of the country.

In his words:

"Consequently, Forum resolved to aggressively sensitise herdsmen on the need to adopt new methods of herding by ranching or other acceptable modern methods,” the communique reads in part.

“It appeals to the Federal Government to support States with grants to directly undertake pilot projects of modern livestock production that will serve as springboard and evidence for breaking resistance to the full implementation of new methods of livestock production.

“Forum resolved to engage elders and youths in a robust discussion with a view to dousing the tensed security environment in the north. Accordingly, a four-person committee was put in place to be headed by the Chairman of the Northern Governors Forum.”

G7 Countries pledge to end fuel and diesel consumption by 2030

The group of G7 countries have agreed on a plan to end reliance on fuel and diesel-powered cars by 2030. As part of a comprehensive Green Belt and Road Initiative aimed at providing developing countries with billions of dollars in aids and investments required to curb carbon emissions, the G7 countries also see this initiative as an alternative to China’s belt and road initiative which China has promoted in Africa and developing countries. According to a report published by the British Government, the G7 nations want to consent to a “nature Compact” that will “halt and reverse: biodiversity loss by 2030.
