Unilag students arrested over overnight reading

Some students of the University of Lagos were arrested by the school's security over reading overnight in the campus.

The Security had accused the students of breaching the Covid-19 protocol of not wearing face mask and social distancing.

The students were directed to log in to the school portal to confirm that they are students of the institution but they refused, insisting such process might be used against them in the future.

The affected students are of the faculty of science, engineering and arts.

The University is currently organizing online classes and students are not allowed physically unless in the day time to access the Wifi for their online classes.

G7 Countries pledge to end fuel and diesel consumption by 2030

The group of G7 countries have agreed on a plan to end reliance on fuel and diesel-powered cars by 2030. As part of a comprehensive Green Belt and Road Initiative aimed at providing developing countries with billions of dollars in aids and investments required to curb carbon emissions, the G7 countries also see this initiative as an alternative to China’s belt and road initiative which China has promoted in Africa and developing countries. According to a report published by the British Government, the G7 nations want to consent to a “nature Compact” that will “halt and reverse: biodiversity loss by 2030.
