Gbajabiamila shuts down house motion seeking resignation of Isa Pantami

The Speaker of House of Representatives Femi Gbajabiamila on Wednesday shut down a motion seeking urgent resignation of Isa Pantami.

Isa Pantami has been facing criticisms with calls for his resignation heightening over his comments praising terrorist groups like Al Qaeda and the Taliban. He also said he was always happy whenever an unbelievers are being killed.

Ndudi Elumelu (PDP-Delta), in a house plenary on Wednesday, raised a point of order seeking a House debate that would lead to a demand for Mr Pantami’s resignation.

But he was however shut down by Mr Gbajabiamila, claiming Ndudi Elumelu did not raise the point in line with House rules.

“Your point of order is noted,” Mr Gbajabiamila said while overruling his colleague. No discussion was entertained on the matter afterwards.
